Deciding against using bug tracking software to track faults

I have a team that has explicitly decided against using bug tracking software to track faults opting for a lean inspired 'fix it now or not at all', this approach is definitely not recommended in the general case but has proved very effective for this specific team. Why did we choose to do this and why does it work for us?
