Fixed Price Projects With Agile - It can be done!

Session Title: Hitting a Fixed Price or Deadline with an Agile Project

Submitter: Peter Stevens

Description:

The popular wisdom says it can’t be done with Scrum or Agile. Most developers don’t like it. And yet, there it is: the fixed price, fixed scope, fixed deadline project. As a salesman, you know your customers want it. As a project leader, you are under the gun to deliver on time. As developer, you know that if the project doesn’t finish on time, it’s somehow your fault. And as a customer you have to wonder, can these guys really develop what they promise when they promise it? So even though as developers and vendors, we don’t like it, deadlines and cost ceilings are a fact of life. So let’s deal with it: How do you deliver to a deadline or a cost ceiling?

  • How to increase your chances of defining the project correctly
  • How to set expectations to maximize maneuvering room
  • How to minimize the risk of project failure
  • How to minimize the impact of project delays
  • How to work with the customer to maximize the chance of success

A hands on guide for customers, product owners, project leaders and developers on how to deal with the reality of fixed price projects and hard deadlines.
