Patterns For Enabling Value Flow

Session Title: Patterns for Enabling Value Flow

Submitters: Karl Scotland & Chris Matts

Abstract:

The Agile Manifesto says that our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software. But how do we actually ensure that we can deliver a regular flow of value to our customers? This workshop will explore some of the patterns that we use to help us realise these twin goals of flow and value. Examples include expanding/collapsing the value at various stages of development, and latent code patterns to enable independence.

The workshop will start with a simple simulation to set the scene and create a context within which discussions will take place. The simulation will demonstrate some typical challenges with achieving a flow of value, following which participants will break into discussion groups. The groups will discuss experiences and solutions for various approaches to deal the challenges and will be rotated a number of times. The final output should be a candidate list of patterns, or a language which can be used to enable value flow.

This one sounds good - I think the workshop format is a good idea for exploring this topic.
